Aster is an easy mountain biking route in the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California, about 1.4 miles from the town of Soda Springs. It's a short out-and-back ride of about 1.3 miles, with a low point of 6,925 feet and a high of 7,099 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Sagehen Creek put July highs around 80°F with lows near 37°F, and the station sits several hundred feet lower, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. Several other trails start close by. Claim Jumper is about 0.2 miles away and Switchback about 0.4 miles. Power Line Boulder, a climbing area, is 0.6 miles off, and Milton Reservoir, a lake fishing spot, is about 1.9 miles away.
