Flynn Canyon is a 7.8-mile out-and-back hike in California's Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, set along the Kern, California Wild and Scenic River. The trail climbs from 3,623 feet to 5,976 feet, a gain of 2,331 feet, and is rated hard, so expect a long and steep day on natural trail surface. Bikes and horses are both allowed, and the trail is not accessible. It stays open year-round, so you can plan a trip for any season, though the Forest Service manages the land and its status as a dispersed route means there are no services along the way. Calkins Flats Dispersed Camping Area and Fairview Campground sit within a mile, and the Tobias Creek and Whiskey Flat hikes start close by. Climbers can head to Sherman Pass, about 6 miles away.
