Sidewinder Trail is a 3.7-mile out-and-back hike in the Buffalo Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in northern Arkansas. The trail rises about 155 feet from its starting point, with a high of 2,382 feet and a low of 2,207 feet. It's a moderate route that stays close to the forest's natural surface. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.8 miles, where the grade reaches 8%. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Kingston show May highs around 72°F and October highs near 67°F. Summer runs hotter, with July and August highs around 85°F. Several other trails sit within a mile. Skyline Trail and Wildcat Trail are each about 0.2 miles away, and Azalea Falls Trail and Trail of the Ancients are about a mile off.
