Red Star Trail is an easy hike of about 1.8 miles on natural surface in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back, and the climb totals about 788 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.16 miles from the start. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 67°F, while July and August average about 85°F. Cave Mountain Road Trail starts just 0.2 miles away, and Headwaters is about 0.6 miles off. Twisted Hickory Trail and Sidewinder Trail are each about 1.1 miles away.
