Cave Mountain Road Trail is an 8.1-mile out-and-back hike in the Buffalo Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas, managed by the Forest Service. The nearest town is Red Star, about half a mile away. The trail is rated hard, with a total elevation gain of 324 feet. The climb is steepest at about 3.4 miles, where the grade reaches 8 percent. The route starts at roughly 2,387 feet and reaches a high point of about 2,479 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Kingston run to highs around 72°F in May and 67°F in October, while July and August average highs near 85°F. Bikes are allowed on the trail, and the surface is natural. The Red Star Trail starts just 0.2 miles away, and the Headwaters and Buffalo Creek Trail are both within about a mile and a quarter.
