Lizard Tail Spire is a climbing area in Arizona's Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness, within the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits in a cluster of named climbing spots. Fun Ship is about 0.1 mile away, and Chimney Rock Area is about 0.2 mile away, so the spire pairs easily with other nearby routes. The spire has seven routes, four of them trad, two sport and one top rope. Grading runs from 5.9 up to 5.10c/d, with Rango at 5.9 and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard at 5.10c/d. Saltwater Kroc is the top rope. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from the nearby Oak Creek Canyon weather station show highs around 70°F in April and 74°F in October, while July highs reach about 90°F. Chimney Rock Pass #165B is about 0.2 mile away and Andante #165E about 0.3 mile. For an overnight base, Chavez Crossing campground is about 3.3 miles off.
