Fay Buttress is a climbing area in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness, part of the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is all trad, with eight routes spread across a range from 5.10- to 5.13-. The hardest of them is The Golden Dog at 5.13-, and Leaving Las Vegas at 5.11c is the median. The routes are named with a mix of whimsy and practicality, including 2 Legit 2 Quit and Simple Twist of Fay. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Oak Creek Canyon weather station run from highs around 70°F in April to 74°F in October, while July highs average about 90°F. Bear Mountain and Lookout Tower are both climbing areas about a mile away, and the Fay Canyon mountain biking trailhead is 0.8 miles off. For an overnight stay, Fernow Cabin is about 7 miles away.
