DWS West Side is a climbing area on State Trust Land in Arizona, managed by the State Department of Land. It sits about 0.3 miles from DWS East Side, and the two areas make a natural pairing for a day of climbing on this stretch of state land. The area has 22 routes, split between bouldering and traditional climbing. The bouldering runs from V1 to V6, and the trad routes range from 5.7 to 5.13+. Some of the named routes include Chloe's Tree (5.7), Slack-Jawed Yokels (5.10), and The Microwave (5.13+), which gives a sense of the grade range you'll find here. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Winslow airport weather station show April highs around 72°F and October highs around 74°F, while July averages climb to about 95°F.
