The Chute Area is a climbing area in the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing and riding spots, with Lower Middle Elden Canyon and the Porcini area each about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is a mix of sport and trad routes, with a few mixed climbs. Five routes are listed, ranging from 5.8+ to 5.11+. The hardest is Pazuzu, a trad route at 5.11+, and the easiest is Musical Skinheads, a mixed climb at 5.8+. Sucky the Cow is a sport route at 5.10a/b, and Bat Wings and Cheep and Juicy are both 5.11a. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ft Valley show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. For more time on the rock, Lower Middle Elden Canyon is right next door. Mountain bikers can ride the Pipeline and Forces of Nature trails, both about 0.3 mile away. Little Elden Springs Horsecamp, about 3 miles off, offers a place to camp.
