Woods is a hard, 17.8-mile out-and-back hike in Arizona's Forest Service lands, about 6.3 miles from the town of Granville. The trail rises from a low point of 3,963 feet to a high of 5,061 feet, a total climb of 1,155 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Clifton weather station show October highs around 83°F with lows near 55°F, and March highs around 73°F with lows near 45°F. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the hike's high point, so expect cooler temperatures up top. Bikes and horses are both allowed on this natural-surface trail, and it is not accessible. The route is open year-round. Several other trails lie close by. Santa Cruz Trail is 1.9 miles away, Falls is 2.4 miles away, and Pat Mesa is 3.5 miles away. For an overnight stay, Granville Campground is 6.3 miles away.
