Jacks Canyon #55 is a hard hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in northern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 13.5 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of 2,039 feet, taking you from a low point of about 4,285 feet to a high of about 6,325 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mund's Park, at a similar elevation, show May highs around 69°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Horses are allowed on this trail. The closest neighbors are the Rabbit Ears and Little Rock hikes, both within about half a mile, and the Oak Creek Spire climbing area about 1.3 miles away. For an overnight base, Chavez Crossing campground sits about 4.8 miles off.
