Pine Valley #148 is a short, easy hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, about 0.9 miles long with an elevation gain of 85 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back that starts and ends at roughly the same point, with the high point at about 4,350 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Sedona show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 79°F, while July averages climb to about 97°F. The trail is a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area. Pine Valley Trail and Big Park Loop, both mountain biking routes, sit about 0.1 mile away, and the climbing at Courthouse Butte is about 0.6 mile off. For an overnight stay, Chavez Crossing campground is about 3.7 miles away.
