Heart Trail is a 6.2-mile loop in the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route rises from a low point of 7,275 feet to a high of 8,740 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,639 feet. It is a hard hike, and the climb is spread across the loop rather than concentrated in one stretch. The trail is open to bikes, and horses are not allowed. The estimated time for the trip is about 3.5 hours. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ft Valley, which sits about 1,400 feet lower than the trail's high point, show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, with fewer wet days than the summer months. The trail sits close to other outdoor options. The El Viejo Corazon Trail and the Mt. Elden Areas climbing area are both within a quarter mile, and Legion Boulder is about 0.6 miles away. Little Elden Springs Horsecamp, roughly a mile off, offers a place to camp.
