Down Under is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.1 miles in the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is natural-surfaced and not accessible. The route starts at about 8,049 feet and climbs to about 8,408 feet, a gain of 364 feet one way. That makes it a short, gentle outing rather than a steep climb. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ft Valley, which sits about 1,000 feet lower, show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Several other spots sit close by. The Sunset and Upper Oldham Trail mountain biking routes are each about 0.4 miles away, and the West Elden climbing area is about 0.6 miles off. Little Elden Springs Horsecamp, about 1.8 miles away, offers camping.
