Continental is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.4 miles in the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 76 feet from a low point of 6,809 feet to a high of 6,888 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Walnut Canyon run to highs around 71°F in May and 67°F in October, while July highs reach about 86°F and August brings the most wet days of the year. Several other trails start close by. Walnut Meadows is about 0.1 mile away, and Campbell Mesa Loop and Anasazi are each about 0.2 mile off. Climbers can find Lost Elden about 2.6 miles away.
