Cavalry Trail is a 6.4-mile out-and-back hike in Arizona's Superstition Wilderness, within the Mesa Ranger District of Tonto National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route rises from about 2,064 feet to about 2,450 feet, a climb of 445 feet one way, on a moderate trail. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically November and March, when typical averages from a nearby weather station in Apache Junction run from highs around 76°F to 77°F and lows near 50°F. That station sits about 380 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Battleship Mountain scramble lies just 0.3 miles away, and Boulder Canyon Trail and Black Top Mesa Trail are both within about 2 miles. For an overnight stay, Tortilla Campground is about 3 miles off.
