Border is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 5.5 miles in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the nearest town is Strayhorse, about 10 miles away. The trail rises from a low point of about 6,000 feet to a high of about 6,849 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 937 feet. It is a natural-surface route, and both horses and bikes are allowed. It is not an accessible trail. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation show May highs around 77°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring highs near 89°F and the most wet days of the year. Cow Head is just 0.3 miles away, and Warren Canyon, Schell Canyon and Coyote are all within about 3.5 miles. For an overnight stay, Honeymoon Campground sits about 4.4 miles off.
