Coyote is a hard hike in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 6.5 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 867 feet from a low point of about 5,554 feet to a high of about 6,422 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 77°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August average highs near 89°F and bring the most wet days of the year. Robinson Mesa is about half a mile away, and Honeymoon Campground and Squirrel Canyon are each within about a mile. Warren Canyon is about 1.8 miles off.
