Aspen is a moderate loop hike of about 2.7 miles in the Springerville Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 114 feet from a low point of 9,075 feet to a high of 9,185 feet. The trail has a natural surface, and it is open to horses and bikes. It is not an accessible route. Because it is a loop, the total elevation gain is the same for either direction. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Sunrise Mtn weather station, about 4.8 miles away, show July and August highs near 71°F with lows in the mid-40s, while winter highs sit around 42°F. The Cedar and Willow hikes start within about a third of a mile, and the Wiilow and Spruce cross-country ski routes are close by. Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground is about 2.8 miles away.
