Rainbow Mountain is a bouldering area in Alabama, about half a mile from the town of Stone Ridge. It is a cluster of boulders rather than a single peak, and its climbing is all on rock rather than on a route with a defined climb. The area has 43 bouldering problems, all rated from V0- to V4- on the V scale. The easiest are Holy Moly at V0- and Pelican Compression at V0+, while Rainbow Ride is the hardest at V4-. The median grade is V2, so the range runs from easy to moderate. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Huntsville show October highs around 76°F with lows near 52°F, and April is similar at about 75°F by day and 51°F at night. That station sits roughly 500 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. Paddlers can find Indian Creek about 1.8 miles away and Barren Fork Creek about 7 miles off. Hikers have Wade Mountain Greenway at about 7 miles and Wade Mountain Trail at about 8 miles.
