Butler Pass Trail is an easy out-and-back hike in Lake Guntersville State Park in Alabama, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is about 2.3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 543 feet, and it reaches a high point of 1,069 feet. The low point is 865 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early on, at about 0.08 miles in, with a grade of 14 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 73°F with lows near 53°F, and April is similar at about 72°F by day and 50°F at night. That station sits roughly 474 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the pass run a little cooler. The hike takes about an hour. The trail starts close to several other short routes, including Moonshine Trail and Firebreak Road, each about 0.1 mile away, and Cave Trail at 0.3 mile. Climbers can find Guntersville Roof about 1.2 miles off.
