The Upper UW Loop is a short, moderate mountain biking route in the Laramie Ranger District of Wyoming's Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The out-and-back ride covers about 1.2 miles, with a total elevation gain and loss of roughly 124 feet, and it sits at an elevation around 8,700 feet. The steepest part comes early, about 6% grade at 0.2 miles into the ride, before the climb eases. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At a nearby weather station, typical July highs reach about 81°F with lows near 52°F, and September cools to typical highs around 72°F. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The Ridge Trail and the Lower UW Trail, used for cross-country skiing, both lie about 0.1 mile away. Tie City Campground is 0.5 mile off, and Beehive Buttress, a climbing area, is about 1.5 miles away.
