South Piney Creek is a hard hike of about 10.6 miles in the Big Piney Ranger District of Bridger-Teton National Forest in western Wyoming, managed by the Forest Service. It is an out-and-back route, with the low point at 8,344 feet and the high at 9,963 feet, and it gains about 1,300 feet of elevation one way. The trail is on natural surface and allows both bikes and horses. That makes it a versatile route for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The Wyoming Range National Recreation Trail lies about 1.3 miles away, and the North Fork South Piney is about 1.5 miles off. For an overnight stay, Middle Piney Lake Campground is roughly 6.8 miles away, and La Barge Guard Station is about 5.6 miles away.
