Black Joe is an easy out-and-back hike in the Bridger Wilderness, part of the Pinedale Ranger District of Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is about 3.4 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 564 feet, starting at roughly 9,700 feet and reaching about 10,300 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so it works well for riders. Bikes are not permitted. The hike sits close to several other destinations. Clear Lake is just 0.4 miles away, and the climbing areas of Sundance Pinnacle, Haystack Mountain and Warbonnet Peak are all within about 2 miles. For an overnight stay, Big Sandy Campground is about 5 miles off.
