Sandstonia is a climbing area inside New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in southern West Virginia, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Kingfish about 0.1 mile away, Bubba City about 0.4 mile and Head Wall about 0.5 mile. The area is known for its sport climbing, with some traditional routes mixed in. The climbing here runs from 5.6 up to 5.12c/d, with sport being the dominant style. The hardest route is Pure Power, a 5.12c/d, and the Good Book at 5.10a is a benchmark in the middle. Among the sport routes, Mrs. Field's Follies is 5.8, and Barb Wire is 5.11c. For the most comfortable conditions, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 75°F and September highs around 78°F, with July peaking near 84°F. Hikers can pair a day on the rock with the Junkyard Area Trail, about 1.5 miles away, or the Hawks Nest Connector Trail, about 1.6 miles away.
