The Pumphouse is a climbing area in the Mt. Baker Ranger District of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. It sits within the national forest's network of climbing spots, and Excelsior Group Camp is just 0.3 miles away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Upper Baker Dam show July and August highs around 74 to 75°F with only seven or eight wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the upper 30s and rain or snow on most days. Other climbing is close by, with Cobblestone Wall about 4.7 miles away and Baker Crags about 6.8 miles away. The Church Mountain Trail and Skyline Divide Trail are both within about 2.5 miles, and Wells Creek offers canoeing roughly 3.5 miles off.
