The Den is a climbing area in the Glenwood and Pedlar Ranger Districts of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest in Virginia, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots and trails, with two other bouldering areas, Values Boulder and Geriatric Boulder, each about 0.1 mile away. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Buchanan run from highs around 77°F and lows near 54°F in May to highs near 79°F and lows around 59°F in September. That station sits well below the climbing area, so expect temperatures at the Den to run cooler. The Johnson Trail is about 0.8 mile away, and the Glenwood Horse Trail is roughly 1.2 miles off. Paddlers can find Jennings Creek about 3.2 miles away, and North Creek campground lies about 5.4 miles from the Den.
