Snowbasin is a climbing area in northern Utah, within the Ogden Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits close to town, with the John Paul Trail and Ridge Trail both about 0.3 miles away. The climbing here is focused on traditional routes, with five trad routes and two alpine routes among the seven listed. The grades run from 5.8- to 5.9 on the YDS scale, so the area suits climbers looking for a moderate challenge on rock rather than a steep alpine objective. Some of the named routes are In Utero and Battle Rattle, both rated 5.8, and Prism Passage, an alpine route at 5.9. For a change from climbing, Maples Campground is about 2.3 miles away, and the Ogden River offers paddling roughly 3.8 miles off. Upper Boulder Field, another climbing area, is about 2.9 miles away.
