Poe Run Overlook is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Tennessee, about half a mile from the town of Summit. The trail is a front-loaded climb, with the steepest stretch at the start, and it reaches a high point of about 1,000 feet before returning to the trailhead. The total round-trip gain is about 150 feet, and the route takes roughly half an hour to complete. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Chattanooga show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the overlook, so temperatures up high run a little cooler. Poe Run Path starts just 0.1 mile away, and Dogwood Ridge Trail and the ADA Loop are both within half a mile. For time on the water, Wolftever Creek is about 4 miles off.
