Matterhorn
About
The Matterhorn is a summit in Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness, part of the Eagle Cap Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The nearest town is Wallowa Lake, about 6 miles away. Two trails come within about a tenth of a mile of the peak: the Matterhorn Trail and the Matterhorn-Sacajawea Trail. Because the summit lies inside a designated wilderness, any visit means planning for travel in a protected backcountry area. Nearby, the Lakes Basin climbing area is about 2.4 miles away and the West Fork Wallowa River is about 3.2 miles off. For overnight stays, Shady Campground sits about 4.6 miles away and Arrow Forest Camp about 5 miles.
