Basalt Rimrock is a climbing area in Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, on city-managed land. It sits among several other climbing spots, with Left Side, Right Side and Fireplace Boulder all about 0.1 mile away. The area is a compact cluster of routes, and the closest trails are Wolf Tree Trail and Homestead Trail, both within half a mile. The climbing here is mostly top rope, with one sport route. Four routes are listed, ranging from 5.10a to 5.12b. Torque dat Axe is the easiest at 5.10a, and Soft Asylum is the hardest at 5.12b. Blair Williams is the first ascent listed for Torque dat Axe and Put a Torque in It. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. Skull Hollow campground is about 3.8 miles away, and Haystack Lake campground is about 8.3 miles away.
