The Upper Rogue River is a 30.6-mile point-to-point hike in the High Cascades Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route rises from about 3,600 feet to about 5,200 feet, with a total elevation gain of 3,705 feet and a total loss of 4,304 feet. It is rated expert. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Crater Lake show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 30s and rain on 17 or 18 days. The trail is open to both horses and bikes. Wizard Creek Snomo and Crater Creek Snomo are both about 0.3 miles away, and the Rogue River paddling route is about 1.9 miles off. For an overnight base, Farewell Bend Campground sits about 6.7 miles away.
