Crater Creek Snomo is a hard hike in the High Cascades Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon, about 7 miles from the town of Union Creek. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is an out-and-back of about 15 miles, with a total climb of about 3,200 feet. The trail starts at roughly 3,660 feet and reaches a high point of about 5,400 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 2.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 19 percent. That makes the first half of the hike the most demanding. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Crater Lake show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 30s and rain on most days. The Upper Rogue River and Wizard Creek Snomo both lie within half a mile. The Rogue River offers canoeing about 1.6 miles away, and Union Creek Campground is about 7 miles off.
