Spirit Falls is a short, easy hike in the Cottage Grove Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, about 0.4 miles long and roughly 80 feet of elevation gain one way. The trail is an out-and-back, with the high point at about 2,019 feet and the low at about 1,909 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trailhead is named Spirit Falls Trailhead. The route is natural-surfaced and open year-round, and it is not an accessible trail. Bikes are allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Oakridge Fish Hatchery show July and August highs around 80 to 81°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on about 16 to 17 days a month. That station sits roughly 740 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the falls run cooler. Moonfalls and Pinard Falls are both hikes within about 2 miles, and Layng Creek offers canoeing about 1.6 miles away. Cedar Creek Campground is about 5 miles off.
