Rujada Campground

Rujada Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Cottage Grove Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, about 12 miles from the town of Cottage Grove. It's a forested site with 12 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, firepit or grill, and a tent pad. Flush toilets are among the modern amenities on hand, and the campground also has a playground and a large day use picnic area, so you won't feel far from town. The Swordfern Trail #1404 starts at the day use site and loops around the campground, covering 1.8 miles along the shore of Layng Creek, over a wooden footbridge and through swordfern understory. A shorter loop is also an option for those who want to keep the outing brief. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Dorena weather station show July and August highs around 81 to 82°F with only two to three wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on most days. Rujada Day Use Picnic Area and the Swordfern trail both sit about 0.1 mile away. Cedar Creek Campground is about 3 miles off, and Junetta Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 4 miles away.
