Scurvy Ridge on the Cape Mtn. Trail is a 4.9-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Siuslaw National Forest, within the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and is rated moderate, with a total elevation gain of 943 feet over the round trip. The high point reaches 1,419 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.28 miles in, with a 14% grade. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. The trip takes about two hours, and the route is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Florence show July highs around 68°F with only about five wet days, while winter months bring highs in the upper 40s and rain on most days. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler. The Blue Horizon (Cape Mtn. Trail) and Blue Horizon Trail both start about 0.1 mile away. Baker Beach Campground is 1.9 miles off, and Cape Creek, a canoeing spot, is 2.5 miles away.
