Santiam Wagon Road West is a 9.1-mile out-and-back hike in the Sweet Home Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. The trail is rated hard, with a total elevation gain of 469 feet, and it is a natural-surface route that allows both horses and bikes. The most comfortable stretch for a visit is summer. Typical averages from the nearby Santiam Junction weather station, at a similar elevation, run to highs around 76°F in July and August, with lows near 42°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 24°F. The trail sits close to several other destinations. Lost Prairie campground is about 0.4 miles away, and the Echo Creek Ski Tour and Hackleman O.G.Grove are both within a mile. Cougar Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 3 miles off.
