Wolf Rock is a climbing area in the McKenzie River Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several named climbing spots, with The Great Arch and South East Face both about 0.3 miles away. The area has one route, South Gully, a traditional climb graded 5.0 on the YDS scale. That makes it a straightforward choice for a single-pitch outing rather than a multi-day commitment. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July and August highs reach about 76°F with lows near 42°F, according to averages from a nearby weather station at Santiam Junction. Winter is much colder, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 24°F. Carpenter Mountain, a hike about 1.5 miles away, is the closest outing. Quentin Creek, a paddling spot, lies roughly 3.7 miles off. Trail Bridge Campground and Lakes End, both campgrounds, are within about 6 miles.
