Nature Trail is an easy out-and-back hike in Forest Park, Oregon, on city-managed land. The route is about 1.8 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 433 feet, and it reaches a high point of 913 feet. The trail starts at an elevation of 656 feet and ends at the same level, so it works well as a short loop or a walk with a small climb. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Portland show July and August highs around 80 to 81°F, with only three or four wet days a month. That station sits about 750 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The hike takes about an hour. The trailhead is close to other routes, with Chestnut Trail and Northwest Firelane 1 Road both about 0.2 miles away and Maple Trail about 0.3 miles away. For paddling, Beaverton Creek is about 6 miles off.
