Dogwood Trail is an easy, out-and-back hike in Forest Park, a city-managed park in Oregon. The trail stretches about 2 miles, climbing from a low point of 490 feet to a high of 902 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.87 miles. The trail's one-way elevation gain is 224 feet, and the total round trip is about 652 feet. The start sits at roughly 735 feet. The warmest, driest stretch runs from June through September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station in Portland show highs around 73 to 81°F and only a few wet days a month. That station sits well below the trail, so expect cooler temperatures on the higher ground. Winter is cool and wet, with highs in the mid-40s and rain on most days. The trail makes an easy pairing with Alder Trail and the Northwest Leif Erikson Drive mountain biking route, both about 0.3 miles away. Wild Cherry Trail is roughly half a mile off.
