The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced. The route is about 0.4 miles long, with a total climb of about 350 feet, and it starts and ends at roughly 3,777 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The trail is rated hard, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.14 miles in, with a grade of about 10%. The climb is rolling, so the high and low points are close together.
