Eagle Creek Trail is a 13-mile point-to-point hike in Oregon's Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness, part of the Hood River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated moderate. The route rises from about 3,700 feet to nearly 3,800 feet, with a total gain of 4,262 feet and a loss of about 4,350 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 11 miles, where the grade reaches 23%. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Wahtum Lake Campground and Ottertail Lake are both within a mile. Chinidere Cutoff starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Eagle Creek paddling route is about 4 miles off.
