Mountain Lakes Loop Trail is a 7.9-mile loop in Oregon's Mountain Lakes Wilderness, part of the Klamath Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated moderate, with a total elevation gain of 1,734 feet and a total loss of 1,785 feet over the course of the loop. The route starts at about 6,978 feet and reaches a high point of 7,585 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 5.9 miles, where the grade reaches 30 percent. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The trip takes about 3.5 hours. For a longer outing, South Pass Lake and Clover Creek are both within a few miles. Sunset and Rainbow Bay campgrounds sit about 5 miles away.
