Layton Ditch Trail is an out-and-back hike in southern Oregon, about 5 miles from the town of Williams. The route is roughly 22 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 410 feet from a low point of 2,217 feet to a high of 2,495 feet. The trail is rated expert, and the steepest stretch comes at about 7.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 20%. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ruch show May highs around 75°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August average in the low 90s.
