Lake Trail is a 3.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Lookout Mountain Ranger District of Ochoco National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at about 5,497 feet and climbs to a high point of 5,497 feet, with a total gain of 1,104 feet over the course of the round trip. The route is rolling, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.25 miles from the start, where the grade reaches about 14 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June and September. A nearby weather station records typical average highs of 78°F in June and 80°F in September, with July and August running hotter, around 89°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The hike takes about 1.5 hours. The trailhead sits close to several cross-country ski routes, including Slide Mtn at 0.2 miles and Corral Loop at 0.4 miles, and to Walton Lake campground at 0.8 miles. For an overnight stay, Wildwood campground is about 3 miles away.
