Keeton is a hard hike of about 16.8 miles in the Paulina Ranger District of Oregon's Ochoco National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is out and back, starting at roughly 5,872 feet and rising to about 5,991 feet before returning to the same starting point. The total climb is about 4,972 feet round trip, with the steepest stretch around mile 2.6, where the grade reaches about 32%. The route is on natural surface, and both bikes and horses are allowed. The closest nearby stops include the Barnhouse hike about 5 miles away, Scotts Camp at roughly 6 miles, and the canoeing on Mountain Creek and Deep Creek, each about 6 miles off.
