Ochoco Mountain is a hard hike in Oregon's Ochoco National Forest, within the Paulina Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back that starts at about 5,500 feet and climbs to a high point of 6,587 feet, with a total elevation gain of 8,679 feet over the course of the trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 6.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 36 percent. The trail is open year-round, and the estimated time for the round trip is about 20 hours. The route is on natural surface, and both horses and bikes are allowed. Nearby, Mascall Corral is about 1.6 miles away and Owl Creek Trail #820A is about 3 miles away. Cottonwood Campground and Cottonwood Pit Campground are both about 4.5 miles off.
