Indian is a 3-mile out-and-back hike in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness, part of the Tiller Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest in Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated hard, with a one-way climb of 863 feet and a total round-trip gain of 1,752 feet. The route starts at about 4,236 feet and reaches a high point of 4,257 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 24%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and regular snow days. The Acker Divide Trail lies just 0.1 mile away, and Buckeye Lake is 0.4 mile off. For an overnight base, Camp Comfort Campground is about 4 miles away, and the Black Rock Fork paddling route is about 5 miles away.
