Forest Creek is a 5-mile out-and-back hike on natural trail in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Barlow Ranger District. The route begins at about 4,450 feet and climbs to a high point of 5,397 feet, with a front-loaded profile that reaches its steepest stretch of about 22% grade just over a quarter mile in. The total elevation gain is 1,239 feet, and the trip takes about 2.5 hours. The most comfortable months are July and August, when typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp run highs around 69 to 70°F with only about four wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Boulder Lake campground is about 1.9 miles away, and the White River offers canoeing about 2.5 miles off. Hidden Meadows and Little Boulder, both hikes, are each within about 1.4 miles.
