Family Loop Nordic is an easy hike of about 1.9 miles in the Klamath Ranger District of Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from about 5,036 feet to about 5,082 feet, with a total gain of 261 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.84 miles in, where the grade reaches 12 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Howard Prairie Dam weather station, about 13.6 miles away, show July and August highs near 79°F with only two or three wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February. The Family Loop Bike route and Rainbow Bay campground both sit about 0.1 mile away. Aspen Point Campground is about 0.5 mile off, and the Campground Shorefront Trail is about 0.4 mile away.
